Eastern hasn't had much luck against Northwest recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Eagles will challenge the Mohawks at 5:00 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Having struggled with eight losses in a row, Eastern turned things around against Glenwood on Friday. They put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 17-1 win. The Eagles' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Trey Kelly made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, three runs, and one triple. That triple was his first of the season.
In other batting news, Christian Smith was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four runs, two stolen bases, and one double. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Cade Leist was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Eastern always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .583. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Northwest entered their tilt with Clay on Friday with five consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with six. They skirted past the Panthers 7-5.
Northwest pushed their record up to 10-4 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.6 runs over those games. As for Eastern, the victory was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 2-10.
Eastern suffered a grim 16-5 defeat to Northwest in their previous matchup back in April. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
