Winning is just a little bit easier when you work as a team to rack up 14 more assists than your opponent, a fact the Rancho Rams proved on Tuesday. They enjoyed a cozy 54-36 win over Silverado. The win made it back-to-back wins for Rancho.
Rancho was led to victory by Claudia Vargas-Arellano and Taylor Dagons. Vargas-Arellano scored 17 points along with six assists and six rebounds, while Dagons scored 22 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. Vargas-Arellano is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Crystal Padilla was another key contributor, scoring four points.
Despite the loss, Silverado still got an impressive performance from Kingsley Jones, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Jones has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Christina Stowers, who scored nine points along with six rebounds.
Rancho has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. As for Silverado, their loss dropped their record down to 5-12.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Rancho will play host again and welcome Western, where tip off is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Western has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 8. As for Silverado, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Cimarron-Memorial at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
