Loomis Chaffee's Luvin De Leon recorded the longest rushing play in NEPSAC Freelance this season in his game against Avon Old Farms last week. De Leon's team topped the Beavers as he sprinted for 52 yards on the play and finished with 141 in all.
Phillips Exeter Academy extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Deerfield Academy, 40-13. This was the team's fifth consecutive win.
Chuck Reid's team's dynamic duo of Emmanuel Williams and A J Poplin proved tough for Avon Old Farms to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Williams threw for 265 yards and three touchdowns and Poplin had 118 yards receiving. Tucker Cheyne helped Loomis Chaffee's passing attack out by catching two balls for 66 yards.
Nathan Scyocurka was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 189 yards on 24 carries as Phillips Academy bested Kevin Driscoll's team. Teammate Joey Verhaegh added to the ground attack by rushing for 79 yards.
Thanks to the talents of Williams and De Leon Loomis Chaffee has been able to do all sorts of things on offense. Williams leads the league in passing with 1019 yards, while De Leon has rushed for 543 yards this season. The Big Blues' Larkin Kemp leads the league in receiving yards with 339 on 15 catches.
A big matchup in NEPSAC Freelance this week will be when Cushing Academy takes on Phillips Exeter Academy. The Penguins are currently in fourth, while Bill Glennon's team is in first.
Phillips Academy was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from eighth to fifth in the league. Leon Modeste's team defeated Northfield Mount Hermon 49-26 earlier in the week.
