The Glenn Bobcats are taking a road trip to face off against the Mount Tabor Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
Glenn is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against Oak Grove on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Bobcats lost 40-19 to the Grizzlies. While losing is never fun, the Bobcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 219th, while the Grizzlies are ranked 89th).
The match pitted two dominant signal callers against one another in Brady Robinson and Grayson Treadway. Treadway had a great game and threw for 197 yards and three touchdowns on only 16 passes. Meanwhile, Robinson was balling out in the loss, throwing for 282 yards and a pair of TDs.
Meanwhile, while Mount Tabor put up plenty of points on Friday, the same can't be said for Atkins. The Spartans claimed a resounding 35-0 win over the Camels. The result was nothing new for the Spartans, who have now won three games by 32 points or more so far this season.
Mount Tabor's win came from a few key players Glenn will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Angelo Moreno Jr, who rushed for 26 yards and one score, and also picked up 48 receiving yards. Trey Cutler got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Mount Tabor proved: they limited Atkins to a paltry 1.6 yards per carry. The team can thank Jayden Smith for the heroic effort on defense: he. Mount Tabor's run defense has been on the up-and-up: they allowed 4.85 yards per carry earlier this season, but they've only allowed 7.17 on average over their last five games.
Mount Tabor didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Cutler and Tre Moye. Cutler got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Mount Tabor has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 36.4 points over those games. As for Glenn, they now have a losing record of 4-5.
Glenn was dealt a bruising 51-6 loss at the hands of Mount Tabor in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Bobcats were down 33-6.
