Even though the Hardin Northern Polar Bears scored an imposing 57 points on Friday, the Leipsic Vikings still came out on top. Leipsic secured a 63-57 W over Hardin Northern. Given Leipsic's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 96th, while Hardin Northern is ranked 454th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leipsic's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jayce Brecht, who scored 23 points along with seven steals and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Ty Lammers, who scored 18 points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
The victory makes it two in a row for Leipsic and bumps their season record up to 2-0. As for Hardin Northern, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-2.
Leipsic won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Elmwood at 7:30 p.m. on December 9th. As for Hardin Northern, they will be playing at home against Calvary Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Calvary Christian focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Saturday.
