Given Cholla's advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 72nd, while Ironwood Ridge is ranked 204th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Cholla's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Cyree Jenkins, who scored 19 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Jenkins is absolutely dominating the point category: he's posted at least 15 every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Jerry Mendoza, who scored 18 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
When it comes to explaining why Ironwood Ridge lost, one person who can't be blamed is Carter Brown. Despite the final result, he scored 28 points along with five rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashton Knudson, who scored nine points.
Cholla is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. As for Ironwood Ridge, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-15.
