Basketball Recap: Brycen Ketterl Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Ness City

The third road match was the charm for Decatur Community, as they earned their first road win of the season. They secured a 59-53 W over the Ness City Eagles on Saturday. For the Red Devils, this counts as revenge for the 81-78 win the Eagles walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2024.

Decatur Community got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Brycen Ketterl out in front who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. That's the most points Ketterl has posted since back in January of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Gage Williby, who went 7 of 13 en route to 17 points and three steals.

Decatur Community smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ness City only pulled down four offensive boards.

Several Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Cadyn Harley, who went 6 for 10 from beyond the arc on his way to 19 points and three steals. Broxton Gall was another key player, putting up nine points along with eight boards and seven assists.

Decatur Community now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Ness City, they now have a losing record at 6-7.

Decatur Community will host St. Francis at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Decatur Community has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 172 points over their last three games. As for Ness City, they will venture away from home to face off against Ellinwood at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Ness City is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.5 points per game this season.
