Torres has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the Sotomayor Wolves at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
Torres suffered their biggest loss since December 6, 2023 on Wednesday. They had to suffer through a rough 62-30 loss at the hands of Maywood Academy.
Meanwhile, Sotomayor can now show off nine landslide victories after their most recent contest on Wednesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Elizabeth 66-37 on the road. The match was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Sotomayor had established a 20 point advantage.
It was another big night for Bryan Hernandez, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 11 rebounds. Hernandez is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Adrian Camacho was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with six steals and five rebounds.
Torres has not been sharp recently, as they've lost nine of their last ten matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-13 record this season. As for Sotomayor, they pushed their record up to 14-10 with that win, which was their third straight on the road.
Torres was taken down by Sotomayor 65-24 in their previous meeting two weeks ago. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Hernandez, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and seven steals.
