Harvey hasn't had much luck against Wickliffe recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Red Raiders will be playing at home against the Blue Devils at 4:30 p.m. Harvey is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 13.2 runs per game this season.
Last Friday, Harvey came up short against Cornerstone Christian and fell 7-4.
Ryan Delaney made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Rodrigo Flores, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.
For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Wickliffe and John Hay meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Saturday. The Blue Devils never let John Hay get on the board and left with a 27-0 win. The Blue Devils haven't had any issues with John Hay recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.
Wyatt Boehmer was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Boehmer was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Wickliffe let Blake Ludvik and Noah Touschner run wild. Ludvik scored two runs while going 1-for-1, while Touschner scored a run while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave Ludvik a new career-high in RBI (three). Kaden Urban was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.
Wickliffe always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .722. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as John Hay only posted an OBP of .071.
Wickliffe's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Harvey, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-2.
Monday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Harvey has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .503. However, it's not like Wickliffe struggles in that department as they've averaged .602. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Harvey suffered a grim 10-0 defeat to Wickliffe in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Will the Red Raiders have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other baseball content.
