Basketball Recap: Midland Classical Academy Picks Up 12th Consecutive Victory

Midland Classical Academy entered their tilt with Trinity on Saturday with 11 consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with 12. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Trinity Chargers 73-27. The Knights have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 14 matchups by 26 points or more this season.

Midland Classical Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Kaleigh Sherrill out in front who went 10 for 12 on her way to 22 points in addition to seven rebounds and six steals. With that strong performance, Sherrill is now averaging an impressive 2 steals per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Mariah Davis, who went 8 of 10 en route to 17 points along with eight steals and five assists.

Midland Classical Academy's win was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 22-1. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 27.4 points per game. As for Trinity, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Midland Classical Academy will face off against Lubbock Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Midland Classical Academy has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games. As for Trinity, they will take on Temple Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
