This season hasn't been kind to the Lincoln High Links, who are still winless after their fifth match. They fell 52-44 to Lincoln East on Thursday. Lincoln High was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Lincoln East apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2022.
Lincoln High lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Ayana Owens, who scored 20 points along with six rebounds. Owens scored a full 45.5% of Lincoln High's points, the fifth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Aniyah Hicks-robinson was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Lincoln High has fallen quite a ways from their 24-2 record last season and are now at 0-5. As for Lincoln East, their victory bumped their record up to 2-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lincoln High will challenge Omaha South at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Omaha South's defense has only allowed 25.5 points per game this season, so Lincoln High's offense will have their work cut out for Lincoln High. As for Lincoln East, they will head out on the road to face off against Benson on Saturday. Benson presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Lincoln East in Nebraska (Benson is ranked 39th, while Lincoln East is ranked 189th).
