The St. Genevieve Valiants''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They took a serious blow against St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy, falling 35-7. While losing is never fun, St. Genevieve can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 635th, while St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy is ranked 269th).
Brady Escobar threw for 118 yards and a touchdown. Khaliq Johnson was his top target, picking up 76 receiving yards. On the ground, Anthony Escobar rushed for 66 yards on only eight carries.
St. Genevieve's defeat dropped their record down to 1-7. As for St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 3-5 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Genevieve will take on Harvard-Westlake at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against La Salle at 7:00 p.m.
