The Apple Valley Eagles will head out on the road to square off against the Minneapolis Southwest Lakers at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Minnesota (Apple Valley is ranked 64th, while the Lakers are ranked 50th).
Apple Valley unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Tuesday. They were dealt a 83-48 loss at the hands of Lakeville North.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Zach Nhial, who scored 13 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Trey Parker was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Minneapolis Southwest's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They fell just short of Washburn by a score of 52-50. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Minneapolis Southwest in their matchups with the Millers: they've now lost four in a row.
Apple Valley's record is now 9-7. As for Minneapolis Southwest, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 11-7.
Apple Valley couldn't quite finish off the Lakers in their previous meeting back in December of 2022 and fell 76-73. Can Apple Valley avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
