East Lake has gone a perfect 4-0 against Hollins recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Eagles will welcome the Royals at 7:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
East Lake is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Seminole 18-3 on Thursday. Winning may never get old, but the Eagles sure are getting used to it with their sixth in a row.
Anna Folger made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off two hits. Folger was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, Lucy Mondok was incredible, firing off three home runs and eight RBI while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Meagan Bostak was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
East Lake lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Seminole didn't launched any home runs.
Meanwhile, while Hollins put up plenty of runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for St. Petersburg. The Royals were the clear victors by a 17-0 margin over the Green Devils. The victory was familiar territory for the Royals, who have now won four contests in a row.
Like East Lake, Hollins also got a great game from a two-way player: Shayla Query. Throwing, Query tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Meanwhile, Paige Westerfield tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Query has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances. At the plate, Query went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base, while Westerfield went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that Query has launched this season.
In other batting news, Hollins let Chloe Monnell and Gianna Close run wild. Monnell went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI, while Close went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run was Monnell's first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Aubree Van Epps, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI.
East Lake pushed their record up to 17-4 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.7 runs over those games. As for Hollins, their win bumped their record up to 10-8.
Hollins' pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: East Lake has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.4 hits per game. It's a different story for Hollins, though, as they've been averaging 9.2 hits. Given East Lake's sizable advantage in that area, the Royals will need to find a way to close that gap.
East Lake took their victory against Hollins in their previous meeting back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 13-0 score. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Royals turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
