Basketball Recap: Fredonia Piles Up the Points Against Cherryvale

Fredonia won the last time they faced Cherryvale and things went their way on Friday too. The Fredonia Yellowjackets breezed past the Cherryvale Chargers to the tune of 68-39. The Yellowjackets have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten games by 27 points or more this season.

Fredonia got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Kamden Barnett out in front who went 7-for-16 en route to 16 points and five assists. Barnett continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashton Oneal, who posted nine points and five steals.

Barnett wasn't the only one working in the assist department: Fredonia was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. Fredonia is 12-3 when they've passed the ball that well.

Cherryvale lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Landon Fox, who shot 78% from the field on his way to 14 points in addition to five rebounds and three blocks. That's the most blocks he has posted since back in December of 2024. Carter Rousselle was another key player, putting up seven points and six boards.

The win made it two in a row for Fredonia and bumps their season record up to 13-5. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 29 points. As for Cherryvale, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last ten contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-16 record this season.

Fredonia wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 73-57 victory against Baxter Springs on the 28th. As for Cherryvale, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 70-19 defeat against Caney Valley on the 28th.
