Atlanta Girls' School will be strutting in after a victory while Notre Dame Academy will be coming in after a loss.
Atlanta Girls' School had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 27.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They managed a 36-30 victory over Furtah Prep.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Atlanta Girls' School to victory, but perhaps none more so than Libby Knott, who scored 24 points along with three steals. That makes it five consecutive games in which Knott has scored at least 25% of Atlanta Girls' School's points. Jade Williams was another key contributor, scoring four points along with 17 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Notre Dame Academy suffered a rough 40-20 defeat at the hands of St. John Bosco Academy on Monday. Notre Dame Academy has not had much luck with St. John Bosco Academy recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Despite the loss, Notre Dame Academy had strong showings from Sarah Gruber, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds, and Marta Losada, who scored no points along with five rebounds and three steals. Losada is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season.
Atlanta Girls' School has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. As for Notre Dame Academy, they now have a losing record at 1-2.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Atlanta Girls' School have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 27.2 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Notre Dame Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 35.3 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Atlanta Girls' School was able to grind out a solid victory over Notre Dame Academy in their previous matchup back in February, winning 36-28. The rematch might be a little tougher for Atlanta Girls' School since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
