Softball Recap: Harford Tech Snaps Four-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

After low-scoring totals in their previous four contests, Harford Tech brought some dynamite into their most recent matchup. They put the hurt on the Elkton Golden Elks with a sharp 19-0 win on Wednesday. The Cobras might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by six runs or more this season.

Shiloh Wall was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Evelyn Colby was a standout: she scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-5. What's more, she posted three RBI, the most she's had since back in March. Lyric Strong was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.

Harford Tech always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .619. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Harford Tech's victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-8. As for Elkton, they are on an 11-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-10.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Harford Tech is set to face off against their familiar foe Bel Air at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Cobras 3.9, the Bobcats 4) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Elkton will challenge rival North East at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
