There's no place like home for the North Canyon Rattlers, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road two weeks ago. They took their game at home on Tuesday with ease, bagging a 75-30 victory over Metro Tech. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win North Canyon has managed all season.
North Canyon had a senior duo take command as Wyatt Mackay dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds and Noah Sowunmi dropped a double-double on 18 points and 15 rebounds. That's the first time this season that Sowunmi pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Landri Pinckney, who scored nine points along with three steals.
Despite the defeat, Metro Tech had strong showings from Oswaldo Lopez Vargas, who scored 11 points along with nine rebounds and three blocks, and Ace Zambrano, who scored eight points along with five rebounds and two steals. That's the first time this season that Lopez Vargas posted two or more blocks.
Metro Tech struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as North Canyon racked up 11 assists.
North Canyon's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-7. As for Metro Tech, their loss was their fifth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 2-15.
Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing Sierra Linda the next time they take the court. North Canyon will host Sierra Linda at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while Metro Tech will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
