The Bluejacket Chieftains will square off against the Quapaw Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Bluejacket is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.9 runs per game this season.
Bluejacket made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Welch, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Bluejacket blew past Welch 14-6 on Tuesday. In other batting news, Bryson Shaffer was incredible, scoring a run and stealing Four bases. while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. Shaffer is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Josh Rowe, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.
Bluejacket always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .632. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Welch only posted an OBP of .394.
Meanwhile, Quapaw fell victim to Salina and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They came up short against Salina, falling 8-0. Quapaw's loss continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.
Bluejacket's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-1. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 7.7 runs. As for Quapaw, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-5.
Quapaw's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Bluejacket has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .545. It's a different story for Quapaw, though, as they've only averaged .359. Will they be able to contain Bluejacket's hitters?
