On Friday, The Mohave Accelerated Patriots faced the Bagdad Sultans in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Mohave Accelerated took a serious blow against Bagdad, falling 63-0. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Mohave Accelerated in their matchups with Bagdad: they've now lost three in a row.
Bagdad found their leader in underclassman Ezrah Aguilar, who rushed for 151 yards and two touchdowns on only 14 carries, and also threw for 192 yards and five touchdowns while completing 73.7% of his passes. Aguilar was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 65 yards. Deegan Owings also deserves a shout-out for his three touchdowns.
Bagdad's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB nine times. It was a group effort, with three picking up two apiece.
Mohave Accelerated's loss dropped their record down to 7-3. As for Bagdad, the win was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-1.
Mohave Accelerated does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Bagdad will square off against Mogollon at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Mogollon has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 409 points over their last eight matches.
