The Nokomis Redskins were the 50-48 winner over the Hillsboro Hiltoppers when they last played one another back in November of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Nokomis took a 50-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of Hillsboro on Saturday. Nokomis has been going strong on the season, but this is now their second loss in a row.
Nokomis' loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Alivia Sabol, who scored 4 points along with 9 rebounds and 3 steals, and Cloey Dirks who scored 6 points.
Hillsboro's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tatum Christian, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 13 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Amya Greenwood, who scored 13 points along with 5 rebounds and 3 steals.
Nokomis' defeat dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Hillsboro, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-5.
Nokomis will be playing in front of their home fans against Central A & M at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. Central A & M will be coming into the contest with an undefeated record on the line. As for Hillsboro, they will head out on the road to face off against Litchfield at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Litchfield is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak.
