Ellis is 1-9 against Thomas More Prep-Marian since January of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit  on Thursday. The Ellis Railroaders will head out on the road to  face off against  the Thomas More Prep-Marian Monarchs at 6:00  p.m. Hopefully Ellis focused on turnovers this week  since the team gave up ten on Tuesday.
 Last Tuesday, Ellis was just a bucket shy of victory  and fell  53-52 to Plainville. Ellis has now  taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
 Despite the  defeat, Ellis saw an underclassman step up:  Aiden Aschenbrenner  scored 21 points along with two  steals. Aschenbrenner is on a roll when it comes to  steals, as he's  now  grabbed two or more in the last four games he's  played. The team also got some help courtesy of  Toby Honas, who  scored ten points along with seven  rebounds.
 Meanwhile, Thomas More Prep-Marian's 22-4 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They fell  49-36 to Norton on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Thomas More Prep-Marian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage  in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings  (they are ranked 213th, while Norton is ranked 60th).
 Ellis' loss dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Thomas More Prep-Marian, their loss dropped their record down to 4-7.
 Ellis came up short against Thomas More Prep-Marian in their previous matchup  on Thursday, falling  50-42. Can Ellis avenge their  loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
