The Taylor Yellowjackets will challenge Mount Notre Dame at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Taylor fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Seton on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 14-11 to the Saints.

Morgan Raugh and Emma King did some serious damage despite the final result: Raugh went 4-for-6 with three runs and two RBI, while King went 3-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Raugh is on a roll when it comes to hits, as she's now got three or more in each of the last three games she's played. Elisabeth Shirloh was another key player, going 3-for-5 with two RBI and one run.
Meanwhile, Mount Notre Dame entered their tilt with Badin on Monday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. They put the hurt on the Rams with a sharp 11-3 victory. Considering Mount Notre Dame has won six games by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Audrey Gildea was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. Gildea was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season.
In other batting news, Kat Zielinski was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Grace Pitzer, who went 1-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Mount Notre Dame always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .526. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Badin only posted an OBP of .310.
Mount Notre Dame pushed their record up to 12-4 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Taylor, their loss dropped their record down to 9-6.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Taylor has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.6 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Mount Notre Dame struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Taylor couldn't quite finish off Mount Notre Dame when the teams last played back in May of 2023 and fell 6-4. Can the Yellowjackets avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
