Atlantic is 0-3 against Mount Dora since March of 2023 but things could change on Tuesday. Atlantic will host Mount Dora at 4:30 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Last Saturday, Atlantic got the win against Varsity Opponent by a conclusive 12-1.
Jayden Lombardi was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted over his last 12 contests. The team also got some help courtesy of Jake Cronin, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, Mount Dora came tearing into Monday's match with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They never let the Mustangs get on the board and left with an 11-0 victory.
Mount Dora also got a great performance from Jack Irwin as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Furthermore, Irwin didn't allow a single walk, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in February.
On the hitting side, Mount Dora let Brady Smith and Jacob James run wild. Smith scored a run while going 2-for-2, while James went 1-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Noah Macinness, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2.
Mount Dora was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .412. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wekiva only posted a batting average of .118.
Atlantic is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. Mount Dora's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-6.
Atlantic's speedy runners might be the difference in Tuesday's contest. Atlantic has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.5 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Mount Dora, though, as they've been averaging only 1.1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Atlantic continue to outrun the ball?
Atlantic suffered a grim 8-0 defeat to Mount Dora in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Will Atlantic have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other baseball content.
