Mineola has gone a perfect 4-0 against Scurry-Rosser recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Mineola Yellowjackets will square off against the Scurry-Rosser Wildcats at 5:30 p.m. Mineola will be strutting in after a victory while Scurry-Rosser will be coming in after a defeat.
Mineola is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Quitman on Friday as Mineola made off with a 23-4 win. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Yellowjackets with their most commanding win of the season.
Jadelyn Marshall was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. Furthermore, she didn't allow a single walk, the first time she has blanked an opponent since back in April of 2024. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run. Those doubles marked the first that she hit this season.
In other batting news, Kali Chrietzberg was a standout: she scored five runs and stole Three bases. while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. What's more, she posted two hits, the most she's had since back in May of 2024. Kaitlyn McMahon also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Mineola always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Scurry-Rosser came up short against Rockwall-Heath on Friday and fell 11-6. The Wildcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Scurry-Rosser saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jaycee Rhoades, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another was Alanah Greene, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.
The victory made it two in a row for Mineola and bumps their season record up to 6-6-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Scurry-Rosser, their loss dropped their record down to 7-9.
Everything went Mineola's way against Scurry-Rosser in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, as Mineola made off with a 9-0 win. Will Mineola repeat their success, or does Scurry-Rosser have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
