If the McMichael Phoenix were riding high off their 70-50 takedown of the North Forsyth Vikings last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. McMichael fell 75-63 to West Stokes on Tuesday. McMichael has struggled against West Stokes recently, as their contest on Tuesday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
McMichael's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cody Beck, who scored 16 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Beck has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Tatum, who scored 14 points.
McMichael has been struggling recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-13 record this season. As for West Stokes, they have been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 14 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. McMichael will stay at home for another game and welcome T.W. Andrews at 8:00 p.m. on January 26th. T.W. Andrews is no doubt hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses. As for West Stokes, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Walkertown at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Walkertown knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past six matches -- so hopefully West Stokes likes a good challenge.
