The Esperanza Aztecs are on the road again on Thursday and plays the El Dorado Golden Hawks at 7:00 p.m. on February 1st. Esperanza will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 709th, while the Golden Hawks are ranked 257th).
Last Tuesday, Esperanza ended up a good deal behind the Mustangs and lost 58-43.
Meanwhile, El Dorado unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell to Foothill 46-41. El Dorado has struggled against the Knights recently, as their game on Tuesday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the defeat, El Dorado got a solid performance out of Andrew Salvador, who scored nine points along with six rebounds. Nathan Meek was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Esperanza dropped their record down to 9-18 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for El Dorado, their defeat dropped their record down to 17-10.
Esperanza came up short against the Golden Hawks in their previous matchup two weeks ago, falling 60-52. Can Esperanza avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
