Benjamin is 10-0 against Chillicothe since January of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Benjamin Mustangs will head out on the road to face off against the Chillicothe Eagles at 6:00 p.m. Benjamin knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 17 matches -- so hopefully Chillicothe likes a good challenge.
Benjamin pushed their score all the way to 63 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 73-63 to Lubbock Christian. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Benjamin has scored all season.
The losing side was boosted by Grayson Rigdon, who scored 44 points along with five rebounds and four steals. That was a full 69.8% of Benjamin's points, marking the 16th time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Keegan Hayes, who scored eight points along with five steals.
Benjamin struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Chillicothe's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their tenth straight defeat. They were outmatched by Electra on the road and fell 88-26. While losing is never fun, Chillicothe can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1671st, while Electra is ranked 771st).
Benjamin's loss ended a nine-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 16-1. As for Chillicothe, they dropped their record down to 1-10 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Everything came up roses for Benjamin against Chillicothe when the teams last played back in January as the team secured a 83-22 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Benjamin since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
