Baseball Recap: Jefferson Davis Academy Has No Trouble Against Lake Marion

The Jefferson Davis Academy Raiders made easy work of the Lake Marion Gators on Monday and carried off a 14-1 victory. The Raiders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by seven runs or more this season.

Will Stillinger and Dalton Nix made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Stillinger tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Nix tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Jefferson Davis Academy is 4-1 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 5-6 otherwise. At bat, Stillinger went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one run, while Nix got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those three RBI gave Stillinger a new career-high.

In other batting news, Jefferson Davis Academy got a big performance out of Colson Loadholt, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Loadholt has been hot recently, having posted two or more stolen bases the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Corbin Perry, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Jefferson Davis Academy's win bumped their record up to 9-7. As for Lake Marion, they are on a 17-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-12.

Coming up, Jefferson Davis Academy is taking a road trip to face off against Edisto at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lake Marion will be paying especially close attention to the Raiders' contest: after the Raiders face off against the Cougars, they'll take on Lake Marion again at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
