Kayleigh Barnard was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, Liberty County let Layla Santiago and Brighton Harpe run wild. Santiago went 2-for-3 with one home run and two runs, while Harpe went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and two runs. That's the most hits Harpe has posted since back in August. Amiyah Payne was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs and one RBI.
Liberty County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.5 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matchups they've averaged 10.4.
Calvary Day never got on the board in their matchup on Tuesday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Jenkins on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 20-8 margin over the Warriors. The Cavaliers not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since October 9, 2024 (when they won 14-1).
Calvary Day got a massive performance out of Jaya Moore, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, three RBI, and two doubles. The team also got some help courtesy of Gracie Waller, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Liberty County has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a massive bump to their 17-12 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. Calvary Day's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-14.
Liberty County took their victory against Calvary Day when the teams last played back in September by a conclusive 14-0 score. Do the Panthers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cavaliers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
