If the Palm Beach Gardens Gators were feeling good off their 70-48 takedown of the Santaluces Chiefs last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Palm Beach Gardens took a 68-50 bruising from Dwyer on Friday. While losing is never fun, Palm Beach Gardens can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 251st, while Dwyer is ranked 27th).
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Dwyer to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jaelen Nelson, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and five assists. Amari Nealy was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds.
Palm Beach Gardens' defeat dropped their record down to 12-9. As for Dwyer, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 18-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Palm Beach Gardens and Pahokee will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 29th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Pahokee is no doubt hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses. As for Dwyer, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Lake Worth at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
