The Soroco Rams scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They were the clear victor by a 53-28 margin over Caprock Academy. That looming 53-28 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Soroco yet this season.
Soroco's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Anna Rushton, who scored 17 points along with two steals. Rushton continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Alyana Edwards, who scored ten points along with two steals.
Caprock Academy lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Pennie Underwood, who scored six points along with 11 rebounds and two blocks. That's the first time this season that Underwood posted two or more blocks.
Soroco's win bumped their record up to 2-7. As for Caprock Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Soroco and North Park will face off at 4:30 p.m. on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. North Park is coming into the contest on a six-game losing streak. Caprock Academy on the road again on Tuesday and play against Plateau Valley at 6:00 p.m. on January 23rd. The pair have allowed few points on average, (Plateau Valley: 24.8, Caprock Academy: 29.1) so any points scored will be well earned.
