In what's become a running theme this season, the Spanish Springs Cougars gave their fans yet another huge win on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Carson 55-11 at home. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 30-6.
Spanish Springs' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mackenzie Chase, who scored nine points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Allison Hayes, who scored nine points along with four steals.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Carson struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Spanish Springs racked up 16 assists.
Spanish Springs pushed their record up to 12-9 with that win, which was their third straight at home. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 33.67 points. As for Carson, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Spanish Springs won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Galena at 3:30 p.m. on January 24th. Galena will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Nevada Rankings (they are ranked 64th, while Spanish Springs is ranked 16th). As for Carson, they will head out on the road to square off against Reno at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday. That game will pit two of the most dominant players against one another: Kindle Rowe and Lauren Finnerty.
