The Lutheran Lions scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They took their match at home with ease, bagging a 70-39 win over Discovery Canyon. The score was close at the half, but Lutheran pulled away in the second half with 47 points.
Leading Lutheran to victory were Berkley Schneider and Jayda Vigil. Schneider dropped a double-double on 14 points and 17 rebounds, while Vigil scored 24 points along with three steals and two blocks. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Vigil has scored all season. Makenna Mudd was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with two steals.
Lutheran pushed their record up to 8-7 with that victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.2 points per game. As for Discovery Canyon, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-9.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lutheran will face off against Lewis-Palmer at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Colorado (Lewis-Palmer is ranked 59th, while Lutheran is ranked 77th). As for Discovery Canyon, they will head out on the road to square off against Cheyenne Mountain at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Cheyenne Mountain comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 25 points in their last four games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
