Long Beach Poly took a 27-20 hit to the loss column at the hands of Servite. Long Beach Poly's loss signaled the end of their nine-game winning streak.
When it comes to explaining why Long Beach Poly lost, one person who can't be blamed is Kamarie Smith. Despite the final result, he picked up 155 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Among those leading the charge was Quaid Carr, who rushed for 119 yards and a touchdown. Carr has been hot recently, having posted 100 or more rushing yards the last five times he's played. Gavin Gutierrez was in the mix too, providing Servite with two touchdowns.
Long Beach Poly's defeat dropped their record down to 10-2. As for Servite, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season.
Long Beach Poly does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Servite will head out on the road to face off against Serra at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in the nation (Serra is ranked 73rd, while Servite is ranked 87th).
