Centennial has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the Kellis Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.
Centennial pushed their score all the way to 60 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were dealt a 89-60 defeat at the hands of Ironwood. While losing is never fun, Centennial can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 55th, while Ironwood is ranked fifth).
Meanwhile, Kellis' recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fifth straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 92-28 loss at the hands of Willow Canyon. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Kellis has scored all season.
Centennial's loss dropped their record down to 11-10. As for Kellis, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-14 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Centennial against Kellis in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 as the squad secured a 72-36 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Centennial since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
