The Chisholm Longhorns will square off against the Kingfisher Yellowjackets at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Kingfisher took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Chisholm, who comes in off a win.
Kingfisher will be up against a hot Chisholm team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. Chisholm walked away with an 11-6 victory over Fairview on Thursday.
Joah Jeffries made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over 3.1 innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits (and not a single walk). Jeffries was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, Trevor Haws was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. Kelson Hamilton was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while going 2-for-5.
Chisholm was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fairview only posted a batting average of .192.
Meanwhile, Kingfisher had to start their season on the road on Thursday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They came up short against Guthrie, falling 12-4.
Kaden Cline was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. Another player making a difference was Trypp Lack, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Chisholm pushed their record up to 3-0 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.7 runs over those games. As for Kingfisher, their loss dropped their record down to 0-1.
Chisholm might still be hurting after the 10-2 defeat they got from Kingfisher in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can Chisholm avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
