The Hartsville Red Foxes's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They fell 62-53 to Myrtle Beach. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Hartsville of the 60-59 defeat they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture on January 10th.
When it comes to explaining why Hartsville lost, one person who can't be blamed is Shahquan Pendergrass. Despite the final result, he scored 16 points along with seven rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Pendergrass has scored all season. Dorian Knowles was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Hartsville has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-15 record this season. As for Myrtle Beach, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-11.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hartsville will stay at home for another game and welcome North Myrtle Beach at 7:30 p.m. on January 30th. North Myrtle Beach is no doubt hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses. As for Myrtle Beach, they will be playing in front of their home fans against South Florence at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. South Florence knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past six matches -- so hopefully Myrtle Beach likes a good challenge.
