The Edison Spartans had to hit the road for their first game and sadly it wasn't the result they were hoping for. Their tough 60-38 loss to Elmira on Saturday might stick with them for a while. Edison was down 48-28 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.
Ellie Clearwater was her usual excellent self, scoring 22 points along with four steals for Elmira. Clearwater hasn't dropped below 15 points for three straight games. Mariah Matias was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 11 points and 13 rebounds.
Edison's loss dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Elmira, they now have a winning record of 7-6.
Edison will be playing in front of their home fans against Whitney Point at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Elmira, they will head out on the road to challenge Vestal at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
