The Whitewater Whippets fought the good fight in their overtime match against the St. Francis Mariners on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Mariners by a score of 85-82. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (57), Whitewater still had to take the loss.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead St. Francis to victory, but perhaps none more so than Keenan Green, who almost dropped a double-double on 29 points and nine rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Green has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Cameron Nerby, who dropped a double-double on 27 points and 13 rebounds.
Whitewater's loss was their eighth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-16. As for St. Francis, their win bumped their record up to 9-10.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Whitewater will face off against Delavan-Darien at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Whitewater has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 281 points over their last four games. As for St. Francis, they will head out on the road to challenge Lake Country Lutheran at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Lake Country Lutheran will roll in looking for their 13th straight victory, something St. Francis surely won't give up without a fight.
