On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on McKenzie Krebs, who went 3-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Bailey Brown, who went 2-for-4 with two runs.
Augusta Christian hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Hammond was not able to break out of their rough patch last Monday as the team picked up their tenth straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against Wardlaw Academy, falling 12-3.
Ava Sapp was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Hammond's loss dropped their record down to 0-8. As for Augusta Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 12-2.
Augusta Christian's speedy runners might be the difference in Tuesday's contest. The Lions have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.4 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Hammond, though, as they've been averaging only 1.4 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Augusta Christian continue to outrun the ball?
