The Towanda Black Knights will challenge the Canton Warriors at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Towanda is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season.
Towanda's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. Everything went their way against Susquehanna as they made off with a 10-0 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Black Knights.
The team relied heavily on Brynsen Vargason, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Payton Perry, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.
Vargason wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Towanda kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Susquehanna only managed one hit.
The home team had won the previous three meetings between Canton and Williamson, and Williamson kept the tradition alive. Canton took a 13-8 hit to the loss column at the hands of Williamson on Tuesday.
Jaylee Ward was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Ward is also crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Alyssa May, who went 2-for-4 with one triple and one run.
Canton's loss was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Towanda, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Towanda has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Canton struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 6.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Towanda took their win against Canton in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 16-3 score. Will the Black Knights repeat their success, or do the Warriors have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
