Two weeks ago, Skyline Prep ended up a good deal behind AZ Compass Prep National and lost 74-57. While losing is never fun, Skyline Prep can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 197th, while AZ Compass Prep National is ranked third).
Meanwhile, BASIS - Scottsdale scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They strolled past AZ Compass Prep with points to spare, taking the game 60-43. The victory was a breath of fresh air for BASIS - Scottsdale as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
BASIS - Scottsdale's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Blake Tropper led the charge by scoring 18 points along with six steals. Tropper is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last six games he's played. Aaryan Dwvedi was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with three steals.
Skyline Prep's loss was their ninth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 2-13. As for BASIS - Scottsdale, their victory ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-9.
Skyline Prep ended up a good deal behind BASIS - Scottsdale in their previous meeting back in January of 2022, losing 54-39. Can Skyline Prep avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
