Nutley is 0-10 against Seton Hall Prep since April of 2019 but things could change on Monday. The Raiders will host the Pirates at 4:00 p.m.
Nutley easily dispatched Montclair Kimberley Academy on Monday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Raiders fell just short of Bernards by a score of 5-3 on Tuesday.
Nutley got a good showing from Nick Gaccione, who pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits.
Meanwhile, Seton Hall Prep never let their opponents score on Wednesday. They put the hurt on West Essex with a sharp 11-0 victory. Considering the Pirates have won seven contests by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Seton Hall Prep gave Patrick Cassels the start and clearly made the right call: he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, Cassels posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in May of 2025.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jordan Burwell, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Xavier McKnight, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Seton Hall Prep always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .586. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Seton Hall Prep's win was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-3. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Nutley, their loss dropped their record down to 11-6.
Nutley couldn't quite get it done against Seton Hall Prep in their previous matchup back in April of 2025 as they fell 7-2. Can the Raiders avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
