The Naugatuck Greyhounds's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fifth straight loss dating back to last season. They fell just short of Seymour by a score of 71-69. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Indrit Peraj was his usual excellent self, shooting 5-for-8 from downtown and dropping a double-double on 31 points and ten rebounds for Seymour. The matchup was Peraj's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Kooper Harmeling, who scored ten points.
Naugatuck's defeat was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-3. As for Seymour, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-1.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Naugatuck will take on Wolcott at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Seymour will finish 2023 at home by hosting Derby at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Derby will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Connecticut Rankings (they are ranked 127th, while Seymour is ranked 45th).
