On Wednesday, the Woodson Warriors faced the Dunbar Crimson Tide in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Woodson was beaten by Dunbar 76-22. The defeat means Woodson is still on the hunt for the season's first 'W'.
Dunbar got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Emorean Thomas out in front who dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten steals. Thomas also posted eight assists for the first time this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Luv Barron, who scored 22 points.
Woodson dropped their record down to 0-8 with that loss, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 19.4 points per game. As for Dunbar, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a massive bump to their 14-9 record this season.
Woodson's road trip will continue as they head out to face Jackson-Reed at 5:30 p.m. on February 9th. Woodson comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 25 points in their last five games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. As for Dunbar, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Bell at 5:30 p.m. Dunbar will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Bell surely won't give up without a fight.
