While it was all tied up 14-14 at halftime, The Mojave Rattlers were not quite the Somerset Academy Losee Lions''s equal in the second half on Friday. Mojave's rough 42-21 loss to Somerset Academy Losee might stick with them for a while. Mojave has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the loss, Mojave still got an impressive performance from Miguel Kiko Reinares, who rushed for 130 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.2 yards per carry. Reinares' longest rush was for an incredible 78 yards.
Leading Somerset Academy Losee to victory were Kieran Daniel and Malachi Johnson. Daniel rushed for 142 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.9 yards per carry, while Johnson rushed for 149 yards and three touchdowns on only 15 carries. Johnson is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last five games he's played.
Mojave's defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 4-4. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 8-1 Centennial (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 71.1% over those games). As for Somerset Academy Losee, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 8-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mojave will play host again and welcome Rancho, where Kickoff is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Nevada (Rancho is ranked 65th, while Mojave is ranked 50th). As for Somerset Academy Losee, they will be playing at home against Western at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Western comes in on a streak of failing to score more than eight points in their last seven games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
