Softball Game Preview: Estill County Engineers vs. Lee County Bobcats

Estill County has gone a perfect 10-0 against Lee County recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Engineers will look to defend their home field against the Bobcats at 6:00 p.m. The timing is sure in Estill County's favor as the squad sits on eight straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Lee County has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road also dating back to last season.

Estill County gave up the first runs on Wednesday, but they didn't let that get them down. They came out on top against Wolfe County by a score of 5-2.

Sydney Riddell spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on five hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Callee Snowden, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Fans were treated to a battle of the Bobcats on Wednesday. Lee County came up short against Breathitt County, falling 10-4.

Preslee Cundiff put in work no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 14 over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Emileigh Warner made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 2-for-3. She also hit two doubles, marking her first of the season.

Estill County's victory bumped their record up to 9-5. As for Lee County, their loss dropped their record down to 0-6.

Everything went Estill County's way against Lee County in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Estill County made off with a 15-4 win. Do the Engineers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bobcats turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
