Dallastown has gone a perfect 9-0 against Dover recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Wildcats will host the Eagles at 4:15 p.m. Dallastown's pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so Dover's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Dallastown fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Northeastern on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Bobcats by a score of 8-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Wildcats have suffered since April 22, 2024.
Sam Forry was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed six innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Cade Flinchbaugh made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Logan Kessler, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-4.
Meanwhile, Dover came into Wednesday's contest having lost nine straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They had just enough and edged out Hanover 3-2 on Wednesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Eagles have posted since March 25, 2024.
Dover's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Noah Hare, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-4. That's the most runs Hare has posted since back in April of 2024. Jimmy Ehrlinger also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Dallastown's loss dropped their record down to 6-6. As for Dover, their win bumped their record up to 2-9.
Dallastown's speedy runners might be the difference in Thursday's game. The Wildcats have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.8 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Dover, though, as they've been averaging only 1.3 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Dallastown continue to outrun the ball?
Everything went Dallastown's way against Dover in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Dallastown made off with a 14-1 victory. Will the Wildcats repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
