Despite the loss, Cambridge Academy still got an impressive performance from Jillian Mapes, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Alex Cockrell, who scored seven points along with seven rebounds.
Even though they lost, Cambridge Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cross only pulled down 15 offensive rebounds.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Cross to victory, but perhaps none more so than Lexann Maldonado, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds. Maldonado hasn't dropped below nine rebounds for three straight games. Ryan Mayers was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with ten rebounds and six steals.
Cambridge Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 15-9. As for Cross, the victory was the 12th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 25-4.
Cambridge Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Cross is on the road again on Friday and plays Curtis Baptist at 4:00 p.m. on February 23rd. Curtis Baptist will roll in looking for their 15th straight win, something Cross surely won't give up without a fight.
